Family, Beer, Boats and Beef on Weck

Ian's Brother, Mike and his wife Toby came over to visit!  They braved the hurricane in Florida to get up here, we are so lucky to have them as extended family.  We visited and went out to dinner.  It was their 50th anniversary a few weeks ago, BIG CONGRATULATIONS!  We wanted to take them to a nice place, but they opted for simple (with a beer!) meal.  I can't believe I didn't get a picture of them!

We went back to Turning Stone and ate the the Upstate Tavern.  I finally had "Beef on Weck"  It was delicious!  Basically a french dip sandwich on a "Kummelweck" roll.  The roll has caraway seeds and kosher salt.  dipped in the au jus, yum.  A martini for me and a beer for Mike, wine for Toby and much to Ian's dismay, more Pepsi.
We took a drive to Lake George last weekend.  It is about 2 and a half hours from where we are.  A very nice drive.  This is a touristy town on a beautiful lake.
The weather was beautiful and we took a boat cruise up to the "narrows" of Lake George.  Before our cruise, we ate lunch at a little cafe on the boardwalk.

Perfect weather, high 70's, slight breeze.  It was a great way to spend Sunday!
Still alive!

Evinrude, our cat, is still in her collar, so we haven't gone on any overnight trips.  We came home late Sunday and just relaxed on Labor Day.
